Kylie Auld - JDM Impressions

Working remotely, like we do at JDM, doesn’t mean being disconnected from colleagues. As part of our culture-building initiative, and to introduce the digital marketing world to our awesome team members, we regularly peel back the curtain on the lives of JDMers. This week, we’ll get to know Performance Marketing Manager, Kylie Auld!

New call-to-action

When did you begin working at JDM?
February 2022

How did you know JDM was the right fit for you?
When my former employer announced plans to return to the office, I knew my next move had to be a remote-first company. Not only is JDM 100% remote, but the team is actually encouraged to travel and change up where the "office" is on any given day.

What’s your favorite part of the workday?
I always enjoy brainstorming fresh ideas and innovative tests to help clients move the needle and surpass their goals.

What’s the most gratifying part of working with your clients?
Generating results! Working with a high-growth company where we get to be a part of their journey from early stages and help them grow is especially rewarding.

In a remote company, how do you stay connected with your team?
Despite the fact that we are all spread across the country, we do maintain a regular schedule of team meetings, 1:1s, and syncs to share knowledge, account updates, and just general life updates. Having a team with a variety of experience is incredibly beneficial for brainstorming and supporting one another's development.

What three words would you use to describe the JDM culture?
Innovative
Collaborative
Agile

What's something you love about JDM?
I appreciate the emphasis placed on radical transparency. I believe that it's essential both internally and externally to communicate as transparently as possible.

Can you recall a time when JDM challenged you, and how we supported you through that time?
Taking on a new client with lofty goals can be intimidating, but we have a support system in place to ensure smooth and successful launches. From strategy brainstorming to QAing deliverables, JDM has numerous checks and balances in place to support the team.

What’s the best thing you’ve done with your unlimited PTO?
Traveling to beautiful places (Puerto Rico, Colorado, and California just last year!) + visiting my baby niece in North Carolina as often as possible (being an aunt is the best!)

What's something you love about the marketing industry?
I love how much the industry has evolved in the last few years, with digital marketing eclipsing traditional marketing and forcing established brands to rethink their strategies in order to stay ahead of trends and reach audiences of all ages and demographics.

What do you think has been the most interesting change in the marketing industry or in your channel this year?
Marketers are becoming more creative in general. We've seen a shift toward short-form video dominating the space and being preferred by most algorithms, which has opened up new avenues for creative testing to learn more about what resonates with audience cohorts.

What digital marketing platform, technology, or skill do you see gaining the most traction in the next 1-2 years, and why?
AI. In terms of marketing, I believe we have only seen a fraction of what AI is capable of. It has already proven to be a game changer for digital marketing in its infancy, and I am confident that it is here to stay.

What are the names and ages of your kids (or furbabies)?
Gypsy (13), Pippa (12), and Rudy (4)

What's something you've implemented or tested, and what was the outcome?
I've been conducting a lot of testing with different ad formats, particularly on LinkedIn. I've discovered that each format lends itself to different goals and stages of the funnel, whether it's image ads, video ads, document ads, conversation ads, or carousels. While video ads are good for engaging top-of-funnel audiences in the awareness stage, carousel ads are better for sharing value propositions geared toward hand-raisers at the bottom of the funnel.

What’s a project that you’ve worked on that you’ve really enjoyed?
Recently, we have been working with a client that came to us after receiving abysmal results from their previous agency. Working with the team, we were able to make small changes for big wins right away, and we have since implemented more significant changes or even bigger wins. It's been extremely rewarding to be able to produce results for the client almost immediately.
