Jesse Rooney - JDM Impressions

Working remotely, like we do at JDM, doesn’t mean being disconnected from colleagues. As part of our culture-building initiative, and to introduce the digital marketing world to our awesome team members, we regularly peel back the curtain on the lives of JDMers. This week, we’ll get to know Digital Ad Account Manager, Jesse Rooney!

When did you begin working at JDM?
I joined the JDM team as an Account Strategist in October 2021.

How did you know JDM was the right fit for you?
I was very excited to have found such a great opportunity in the job posting but meeting with the team and interviewing is where things really started to fall into place. The members I met with were AWESOME, and I could immediately see that there was a difference in JDM compared to past agencies I’ve been a part of. The big kicker was that JDM has been a fully remote company (prior to the pandemic) and that JDM was accustomed to what the rest of the world was struggling to shift to (remote work).

What’s your favorite part of the workday?
It depends on the day, but I’m a big fan of the analysis we frequently put together and make the countless rows and columns of data narrate a story. It is very interesting to revisit data through a new lens to empower future decisions!

What’s the most gratifying part of working with your clients?
I enjoy being a part of a team that works with an array of clients. This allows us to try new things and approach many aspects of what we do in a different way. The past agencies I had been a part of were focused on a very niche industry/client where things became “standard.”

In a remote company, how do you stay connected with your team?
I stay connected with the team with weekly paid social team meetings along with monthly virtual donut meetings! This acts as a nice break from the day while getting to know/chat with team members about personal and professional topics!

What three words would you use to describe the JDM culture?
Collaborative, like-minded, supportive.

What's something you love about JDM?
I really love the sense of culture and community. Even being a fully remote company, there is a great “family” feel where we are all looking out for each other and fully willing to help when help is needed.

What’s the best thing you’ve done with your unlimited PTO?
Camping / Fishing trip in northern Arizona with family and friends!

What's something you love about the marketing industry?
Though it can be overwhelming, the digital marketing industry is changing every day with new platforms, features, updates, and capabilities to improve performance across the board.

What digital marketing platform, technology, or skill do you see gaining the most traction in the next 1-2 years, and why?
Content creators / creation! I’ve noticed all platforms starting or expanding programs with the primary goal of supporting content creators. On the creative side, I think so much can happen in 1-2 years specifically in terms of content being interactive and creating an immersive experience.

What are the names and ages of your kids (or furbabies)?
Zona! - 6 year old girl!
