Click Through Reads #5: Avoiding the Burnout — Jordan Digital Marketing

Hello Click Through Readers! How is everyone doing? Did you remember that Monday is a holiday? Be sure to move your meetings!

I think it’s fair to say, even as a regular full-time remote employee, that the last few months have been more draining than usual. There are lots of reasons why - for me personally I went back to back maternity leave self-quarantine to COVID-19 quarantine. I haven’t left my house since November. While productivity is up with remote work, so is employee burnout as there is a lack of outlets during this shutdown. Google announced a company-wide holiday this month to encourage employees to relax and take some time away from work (we will cover this in the news). I hope everyone is able to take some time away from work and do something that brings them joy this weekend. Happy Memorial Day to all who have sacrificed, we remember and honor you.

Now for the news! Let’s start with some news about Google.

Top News

COVID Burnout: Google announced a company holiday to address coronavirus work-from-home burnout. May 22 is a company-wide holiday for Google, who says most employees would likely work from home until the end of this year. Facebook also announced that they are extending their work from home policy until the end of 2020.

Google Gallery Ads: Google is ending their Gallery Ads Beta in August. These ads featured a carousel of images, which worked well in the auto industry but failed to perform in other verticals. Instead Google is focusing on image extensions and dynamic image extensions, which show as a thumbnail alongside your text ad. This extension originally started as mobile-only, but is now available on desktop as well.
